About Engineers Without Borders
Welcome to the Kansas City Professional Chapter of EWB-USA. We are one of 300+ chapters around the world and work on both INTERNATIONAL and DOMESTIC projects.
EWB-USA is an international nonprofit humanitarian organization established to support community-driven development programs through community partnerships and sustainable engineering projects.
EWB-USA Overview
Mission
EWB-USA supports community-driven development programs worldwide by collaborating with local partners to design and implement sustainable engineering projects, while creating transformative experiences and responsible leaders.
Vision
A world in which the communities we serve have the capacity to sustainably meet their basic human needs, and that our members have enriched global perspectives through the innovative professional educational opportunities that the EWB-USA program provides.
COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP
Our mission is based on more than blueprints and measurements; it is based on real relationships and five-year partnerships with communities.
We do more than build projects for communities – we equip them to build and maintain new infrastructure themselves, which ensures that the community will have solutions long after our five-year commitment is fulfilled.
PROJECT FOCUS
EWB projects are totally determined by the communities we partner with in order to serve their needs. Typically these projects will follow the hierarchy of needs, for example ensuring access to clean water before improving access to internet.
