In 2008 EWB-KC traveled to Solola, Guatemala with Heart to Heart International, ACONANI, and the Rotary club as they installed Biological Sand 
Filters at several schools.

The trip was an assessment trip to assess sanitary and water issues at several schools in Solola.  EWB’s objective at each school was to 
assess the current sanitary conditions and to identify any other engineering needs.

Recommendations were provided to the other organizations to aid in further development of the region.
